Does anyone know what was going on outside the Hyatt this morning?
I did beep my horn in support of the sign that read ‘No taxpayers money for big polluters’, but have no idea what it was in relation to.

And this at a time with the USA just passed their American Clean Energy and Security Act. It will be interesting to see what happens next….hopefully this will be one time our government follows in America’s shirt-tails.
Actually, Australia adopting the provisions of the American Clean Energy and Security Act 2009 would be a step backwards from the environmental standards set under the former Coalition government.
While the title of the bill made many left leaning greens moist in the pants, it only really serves to bring the USA closer the the standards set by the rest of the world a number of years back.

What amazes me is that they do this, in summer at least, wearing just short sleeved shirts (and yes, trousers and boots), no protective gear. I always wondered if that was a requirement of uniform, or choice. Either way, I know I don’t go on my bike without protective gear – ever.
Only the best riders get assigned to do escorts. They have a different uniform to when they’re on regular motorcycle duty, sometimes they wear their full blues and sometimes they just have a shirt top on but the proper slacks and boots.
They look well pukka and are obviously fantastic riders the way they command their machines.
minerals week? so is vegetables week next week, or did we all miss it? (and we probably missed animals week first)

Horn beeping kills polar bears
And the great barrier reef
And kakadu
And the murray-darling
I believe it was because the annual Minerals Week is being held there. A cushy little love-in between the world’s biggest polluters and our government. Gosh! Look at them all: CEO, Rio Tinto; Treasurer, Wayne Swan; CEO, Minerals Council; Russia, Brazil, China, India and even the Deputy PM. They must be an important bunch….with voices in all the right ears!
When’s the last time our DPM and Treasurer sat down with us and discussed the CPRS and ETS???
Good on whoever was out there this morning! I wish I’d known sooner myself!
The police bikes usually do that when they’re on escort duty. They close an entrance to Adelaide Avenue, wait until the important personage’s car goes through, then jump on the bikes and scream up to the next entrance to close it before important personage gets there. (Probably work in teams, so that each set of cops closes every second one?)

They had to make it to the donut shop before closing??
C’mon. Give ’em the benefit of the doubt.
Perhaps their back teeth were floating? Ha!
I beeped coz because I don’t want tax money going to big polluters. I assumed it was to do with CPRS, but don’t know why they were at the Hyatt.

No idea, but I am wondering if any one knows why two Police bikes went flying down Commonwealth Avenue around 5pm at est.100-110kmh in peak hr traffic, weaving in/out traffic WITHOUT sirens on.
