Much luckier than you think. A friend witnessed this, as he and some others were standing on the driveway and footpath opposite the car he collided with. Even luckier was that he someone managed to avoid driving through the front window of a neighbouring property after veering off the road into their garden, before driving off again and just missing another parked car. I’m told the guy was so intoxicated he couldn’t even walk unaided when arrested after engaging police in a 20km/h slow speed pursuit.

Apparently the egging brigade was also busy that night, to add to their ‘fun’.

I actually saw the owners picking up said merecdes on my way back home in the afternoon. I’m hoping the fool wasn’t allowed to drive again!

Interesting to note also, as mentioned by bd84, the difference with other states’ legislation. In NSW this bloke would have lost his licence on the spot.

I’m pretty sure NSW has moved to exceed speed by 0 – 10km/h over posted limit, 10 – 20 km/h etc. rather than the 0 – 15, 15 – 30, 30 – 45 we have.
