Mobile giants whip out their 4G networks to be measured

In response to Optus’s announcement of a dual-band 4G network, Telstra has decided to tell us just how big its 4G network actually is.

So Telstra’s is huge, but Optus’s can do more impressive things?

The age old question then, how important is size?

At least Telstra’s 3G in Bonython is quicker than ADSL2. But then that’s not saying much

Great! Now if only existing 4G handsets worked on the 2300 MHz band they’d actually have something.

The age old question then, how important is size?

In this case the smaller the better. Ideally each cell should be small enough to only have one user in it so they can get the bajillion bits per second that the carriers like to quote in their promotional material (provided the back-haul to the tower is up to scratch).
