A look back at the Village

The Village was a magnificently odd little festival that snuck in and out of Canberra back in March. Sadly March was the month of hell festival wise and I don’t think it got as much attention as it deserved.

Still for those that headed out a really fun time was had by all.

Also they let Johnboy ride his freak bike around and let me perform Bat Out of Hell as a part of a Power Ballad circus show, so they made us happy.

Flossy!

Not to mention the glorious So You Think You Can Interpretive Dance competition!

Fun, unpretentious, not taking itself seriously, and therefore cool. One of the few Centenary events that has actually expressed a real Canberra vibe. I like that there was smoking in the pub tent. (Much needed anti-nanny-state loophole?) And not one politician on-site. TICK!

They also let me perform my research into

The acceptability to members of temporary-communities (festival based) of kangaroo as both a medium of engagement with participatory art and an object of inherent commercial value.

Three cheers for The Village Festival.
