I’d prefer Lachlan Kennedy read the news over Jessica Goode, she scares me with her clothes and hair.
I said nobody beats Erin Molan, but I might have to correct that now because Roanne Johnson is majorly hot too, I hope we get to keep her and they don’t send her back to QLD haha. Yes, I watch WIN news for the hot reporters 🙂
I just wish someone would replace Jessica Goode. Her hairstyle and her dress sense drive me insane. I get violent every time she comes onto the screen.
Just did my own research (as I should have to start with) and it’s the same guy, Lachlan Kennedy. Is he a big figure in Canberra? The girl was NOT happy.
Who’s the WIN presenter who used to be on Southern Cross TEN?
I visited canberra a week or so ago and recognised this guy down near the lake from SC10. He was getting shreds torn off him by some chick…
I can’t remember his name but saw him on WIN later. Same guy?
If you think that the journos are cute, you should see the guys in tapes!
Also, Geraldine’s bosoms are tremendous! Even better in person. Just lovely!
Mmmmmmmmmmm…
Hmm always been partial to Geraldine Nordfeldt. What a fox! One day she will be mine.
Oh yes, she will be mine. *steeples fingers*
lol
I’m sure you came up with many creative ways to get the idea across …!
It was most annoying when I got really pissed off with someone and wanted to tell the to “f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-fa-fa-fa-f*ck off”. It really lost the desired effect.
Perhaps – but she was already the editor of Cleo when the alleged relationship began.
All Packer’s power couldn’t help her overcome a lisp. Only dedication, inspiration, and force of will can do that. A good therapist would also help.
Public speaking is daunting enough for the average person on the street, let alone somebody in that situation.
Either way it shows what can be done when given the chance, regardless of why the opportunity was given.
Fantastically interesting article – every person really does have a story.

You don’t really need to be a newsreader, but if that really was your dream I would hope that there would still be opportunities.
People used to laugh at businesswoman and journalist Ita Buttrose because of her speech impediment, but it didn’t prevent her becoming a radio broadcaster and a public speaker.
A special relationship with Kerry Packer might have had something to do with it too.
That’s fine, mutley.

Do I need to bust out my statements about who looks like a foot again or what?!
A person with a stutter can overcome a lot in the pursuit of a dream, mutley. People with disabilities have dreams also – mostly of getting some kind of worthwhile employment.
I’m glad you feel that way Granny. I now feel very well-supported as I still slip back into my stutter occasionally when stressed. But really, I don’t think I could be a newsreader regardless of the support and well-meaning intentions of others.
I really couldn’t care what they look like – so long as you can understand them (unlike some of the news readers on SBS!), they don’t sound like a robot (like Erin Molan) and they give you the good oil on what’s going on.
Phil Small looks like he’s smoked so many cigarettes that it has sucked all the moisture out of him!

Appearances would suggest he could have a lot of sage advice to give on regulating the solarium industry.
It’s good that you did, as it illustrates that comments in this thread are, in fact, offensive.
I used to the words deliberately to get a reaction. I am pretty amazed that a thread with such sexist and inappropriate comments is allowed to remain, really.
both really.
But I was meaning your comment.
(maybe just poor choice of words – I have a few issues with the word ‘retard’ and ‘disability’ being used interchangeably)
Altho I agree with the sentiment.
I think Lachlan Kennedy is excellent. He probably doesn’t have the looks to go on national news but he has a superb voice and delivers his lines well.
I would rather see someone with a disability, but each to their own.
What about that retard who does the weather at night?
Are you talking about the guy that reads the sport? That Lachlan?
I think he does a great job for a young bloke

I can’t stand Lachlan Kennedy, he looks like a frog.
Hahahahh really? His photo on the web page is schocking!
But he’s alright.
I like the new guy, but he still talks too quickly.
This thread is technically sexist, but hell, it balances things out so I can go on about hot women.
But I doubt we’ll please sheepgroper for reasons that are jokes that will be so bad, so bad.
incredible female journalists like Geraldine Doogue
Gerry Doogue is a woman?
A person with a stutter can overcome a lot in the pursuit of a dream, mutley. People with disabilities have dreams also – mostly of getting some kind of worthwhile employment.
While other kids have graduated from school for the past two decades with the promise of a job to look forward to, young people with a disability have had parents who need to go around and beg for businesses, employers and organisations to give their kid a chance.
As with, Ben, who I mentioned above. If an employer was looking for somebody who can offer loyalty that can’t be bought with a salary, but can be earned with an opportunity, if they were willing to look at constructive solutions to obstacles they would have workers who would give everything.
The only thing standing in the way of their dreams is people’s pessimism and negativity. Why shouldn’t someone with one arm be pictured presenting the weather. Why can’t a journalist interview from a wheelchair as well as a pair of legs? It’s just a perception, and it is just another form of discrimination.
Ryan – I’m guessing you mean this segment (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ulyE2nJUOtc)
Personally, I’m still waiting for Kate Taylor to make the crossover from 104.7 to local TV news. Great presentation of news bulletins on what is, let’s face it, not a particularly news focussed radio station. Although her “Hey I’m Kate Taylor” intro to the news does sound a bit sloppy and unprofessional, and detracts from an otherwise smooth delivery.
Oh, and for those interested in the hotness stakes, she’s not just a face for radio…
I would rather see someone with a disability, but each to their own.
Like a stutter?
RiotACT is not sexist,
But some RiotACT commenters (never to be confused with the general readership) are unfortunately humour deficient.
Since we’ve got everything from ‘delinquent NFL superstars to Queanbeyan local council’ covered now, we probably could get rid of all the other old rotting corpse farts hanging around ….
Of course this thread is sexist, it’s meant to appeal to red blooded women and gay blokes. As pointed out previously, it’s not as if most WIN journalists are outstanding for anything other then their appearance.
This thread is sexist, and objectifies someone based upon their appearance.
Not that there’s anything wrong with that, now that Sepi has apparently joined in.
They have to do a little more than look good for the camera.
They need to know how to raise their eyebrows at least once a sentence (if you can move your eyebrows independently of each other this is a bonus). They need to know how to….. EMPHASISE a word every now and then. They also need to be able to perform a bit of banter with the sports reporter or weather man.
It would also be preferable if they can read an autocue – and not look too startled when something goes wrong.

Agreed. I remember one Tuesday night in that segment where she tries various sports, she did pole dancing. Mmmmmmm
shame about her voice, though.

Me too Grany, although their voices are often still heard in places like Radio National.
I think it should be a requirement that our newspeople ARE ugly and old. We might raise the standard of what passes for TV journalism.
I would also prefer to see a world where the television ‘voices’ of incredible female journalists like Caroline Jones, Geraldine Doogue and Margaret Throsby were not silenced prematurely simply because of some imaginary biological use-by date.

“I’m with Woody -we need more beefcake on the telly.”
There’s already enough beefcake on TV. America must have the most attractive law enforcement agencies in the world, and most country folk I’ve met don’t look like the people on McLeods Daughters.
In my view, if you want eye-candy, watch those shows. A journalist’s virtue is in his/her ability, not looks. TV news is dumb enough already.
I don’t care if they’re uglier than a monkey’s armpit.
.
Total diversity would be lovely.
But failing that, I’d like to even up the Glamour puss and old fart ratio.
+1 thread.
I’m with Woody -we need more beefcake on the telly.
Piccies please!
Too right! Bugger integrity, intelligence and experience, who needs that?
(I suggest the Naked News over on pay TV might be more your style)
Are you suggesting that female news presenters and reporters like Juanita Phillips and local girl Jessica Good are given the top job solely on their integrity, intelligence and experience?
Without a doubt both are chosen because they are very well regarded journalists, however a prime consideration for all females is that they also look pretty on camera. In the meantime the rotting corpses of male presenters like Brian Ferguson, Ian Ross etc are continually foisted on us …
Male and female reporters are not judged by the same set of standards, highlighting incredible inequality in one of the most visible aspects of our society.
TV is a visual medium, and i for one don’t really want to watch some repulsively ugly news reader, regardless of gender. My comments were simply to highlight that WIN News are perhaps doing something right, bringing a young, attractive and presumably intelligent male reporter, to their team.

It is Prime who does their male newsreaders’ make-up and lighting so they look like animated corpses, with inky black mouths and teeth for swallowing your soul?
lush! … but not in that bogan/metro, blond tipped, surfy way, that most young presenters seem to go for .. , how old is he?
Thanks. By the profile pics, if I had to turn gay though, it would be for Jessica Good … I envision a day when both male and female reporters have to be good looking to get a run in TV. I am sick of tiring, old, and ugly male news presenters …
I believe his name is James Glenday according to the WIN News website, speaks fluent German too? No pic there yet.. http://www.wintv.com.au/presenters.php?p_id=257
