of course eating /drinking and driving is illegal regardless of how many Macdonald drive through’s there are. around $250 fine if enforced .

Bongs and crack pipes are sold in stores doesn’t mean pot and ice is legal. Also turning ones head while riding is perfectly legal and encouraged for your own safety.

Keeping your eyes on the muppet next to you with one hand on his bowl and the other on his spoon is undoubtedly more important to your safety then watching the road itself.

Can’t think of many drive throughs that sell cereal in a bowl.

Yet….it is just a matter of time now.

The more I think about it the more it is appealing to just turn on the cruise control, just lie back and enjoy some cereal while the world is thrust towards and past you as you watch the windscreen like a giant televesion. The best bit is that the car does all the work for you. Might try it on the way home as the Glenloch interchange is always really quiet and empty around 5pm-ish

Correct. On a bike you are hyper-sensitive to drivers who are erratic or not attentive. I would be watching him too.

There is plenty of road to be seen in that photo so it is obvious that the rider IS watching the road. It is a very bad driver that only takes notice of the road ahead. Frequent scanning to the rear and side makes for safe driving.

In this case that scanning has alerted the rider to a potential hazard which he/she can take action to avoid.

the sad thing is that most people can’t drive without any distractions, so adding a second task makes them seriously dangerous.

these people should be fined and this sort of behaviour targeted by the police

surely this person cannot spare 10 mins to have breakfast at home or the office, and if he is so time poor, then he needs to go back to primary school to learn how to manage time.

Saw the same thing in Sydney a couple of months back. First thing I wanted to do was pull in front, brake and watch the milk splatter.

pfft, I saw a chick reading a book as noted here a few months ago. At least this guy has his eyes on the road.

Nothing unique about this unfortunately. This arvo a women was driving along Drakeford with two hands on eye liner applying it, no hands on the wheel. Yesterday it was a couple of tradies on mobile phones and a soccer mom with a popsicle. And before that, someone towing a trailer eating a burger while trying to navigate the Westfield Woden carpark.

Unfortunately with stuff all visible traffic policing, you can do this stuff with impunity. But don’t worry, we’ve got ‘safety camera’ – that will surely take care of this stuff in time.
