My car was hit by a stick/branch thrown from a mower near the Barton highway/Gundaroo drive roundabout yesterday morning.
Does anyone know who to contact to get compensationfor damages or to get it fixed?
Do i need to get a quote myself?
Thanks

Had this exact thing happen a few months ago, called up tams and they were happy to replace it, ended up taking the car into their depot where they had it replaced.
Assume you’re talking about a panel or windscreen, although it would be nice to get a replacement car.
Yea sorry I realize now how badly that was written, it was a rear passenger window. 😀
I was extremely lucky to miss a rock thrown up by a Qbn mower on Canberra Ave. Smashed the quarter vent, missing the drivers head by millimetres. (mine, in this case). Could well have been a serious injury, if not fatal.
Qbn council paid for the replacement, so all ended well.

On someone from Canberra would care about this let alone post something on the internet about it. Classic.
WTF is your problem with Canberra/Australia? I don’t think it’s a case of the glass is half empty, it’s effing dry…

I’ve heard if this happens in Adelaide you get a loan car for a week while they fix the damage. They also give you a basket of local goodies to say sorry. The TAFE students will then come out and wash your car, mow your lawn, clean your pool and walk your dog for the summer to make things right.
Part of the risk of driving and a responsibility you undertake as a car owner. Sounds tough, but that’s life.

that sucks…i feel the pain of being attached to my car
but, i agree with #4 and #6 unfortunately – it’ll be difficult to prove this and follow up compensation. just like getting rocks flicked at your windscreen (i too have had a windscreen cracked by a rock from the road), kangaroos and other such incidents, it’s your fault for being in the way of the stick!! it was just minding it’s own business when you drove past…inconsiderate
if you do get anywhere, let us know!
in the meantime, depending on the damage…ScratchX? 🙁

Please contact Canberra Connect on 13 22 81 and they will explain the process.
Or you could have just explained it here, for all to see (and possibly use for future ref)..

If it’s anything like trying to get compensation for damaged caused by the sh*tty road seal around this town, good luck. They’ll probably tell you that you should have moved out of the way for the stick or something equally as stupid.
I got a cracked windscreen from a crappy seal on one of the roads and they told me the road was fine and I should avoid driving behind a bus.
Agree, Ive seen people who have had huge pot holes ruin their alloy wheels etc, TAMS did SFA. You had to prove it.
And HTF does one do that?

Did you stop and notify the mowing crew? It might hinder your claim if you didn’t.
To my knowledge, if you contact the Parks and City services section of TAMS (probably through Canberra connect) they will guide you. I have heard they are usually reasonable when it comes to this occurring. You would also need to contact your insurer.
