We’re forecast a near perfect 24 this afternoon, but then the Bureau is dialling us in for a crazy 30 degrees tomorrow.
Before you pack away the winter woolies we’re back to overnight freezing next Monday.

The max was forecast to be 31 at around 4pm EDT, but it looks like the low pressure area hit us about an hour before that ( http://www.bom.gov.au/australia/charts/synoptic_col.shtml ) which is why the max peaked at 28.5 at 2:45pm EDT ( http://www.bom.gov.au/act/observations/canberra.shtml ) (These links won’t point to the right data beyond today. A difference of 2.5 degrees due to mistiming the arrival of a low pressure area by 1 hour from a forecast produced last night is pretty damn good in my opinion.

The BOM has, sadly, fallen from a reputable organisation which measures and forecasts the weather to a propaganda arm of the CAGW (Catastrophic Anthropogenic Warming) crowd. In this case, they were wetting themselves in the hope of a record-breaking maximum temperature. Oh, well. Rest assured, they’ll be back next time.
Last night, the BOM website told me that the temperature varied between 6.6C and 16.9C within 3 hours. Neither was true. I have a thermometer, and it was around 11C at both times.
This is the crap that is fed into the BOM database, and made harryreadme (the poor sod who was trying to work out the data about temperature that supported the CAGW narrative) to tear out his hair.
You are aware that there is a difference between weather and climate? Weather is what we had yesterday, today and will have tomorrow. Climate is long term, like history or what we might have in the long term future.

Perhaps if you weren’t a backward half-wit, you’d have checked the figures and seen both Canberra weather stations were corroborating one another. I’ll take two sets of figures from calibrated weather stations, with figures following a similar trend over 72hrs over your figure anyday. Dang fancy book learnin’ and all them scientists not withstanding.

It got to 28 today, but I can’t see any forecast for 30, rather a mild 21. Where did all this hoopla come from?
forecast got as high as 21.
Source the BOM website linked to.
If you can’t take my word for it you probably need to find another website, I’m not going to screenshot that stuff for paranoids.

When it happens in October rather that in the hot summer months.
It’s the middle of spring, not winter. 30°C in mid-October is unusual, yes, but I wouldn’t call it extreme.
Wasn’t banning plastic bags supposed to end extreme weather such as this?
I hope the wind drops soon. Every time there’s a gust, a slightly brain damaged staffy tries to climb on my lap, and she’s too heavy for that.
Sure, you can say it’s crazy. But I say that 30 degrees marks the official start of margarita season. Recipes encouraged and appreciated.
