ACT Policing is investigating a fatal collision which occurred in Lyneham last night (Wednesday, 25 December).
Around 11pm police were called to the intersection of Northbourne Avenue and Mouat Street in relation to a single motorcycle collision.
A 22-year-old Turner man riding a green Kawasaki 300cc motorcycle was travelling north along Northbourne Avenue, as he approached the intersection with Mouat Street in the left-hand lane he lost control of the motorbike and struck a traffic island.
ACT Ambulance attended the collision and transferred the man to The Canberra Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The man is the seventh person to die on an ACT road this year.
ACT Policing is asking anyone who witnessed the collision and is yet to speak to police to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
