Taylor Primary School

Hi, my daughter attends Kindi at the school and I think we are so lucky to have her there. The teachers are lovely, classes small and they learn so much. Many times I have been impressed by the older children watching out for the younger ones, including them in games and helping with reading eggs on the computers for example. I am almost reluctant to give Taylor such a great review, as it’s such a good size school, in a few years time I predict it will be hard to get a spot!

Taylor Primary is my in area school but I sent my children to another public school in the Woden area. The teachers at Taylor do the best they can but if a class is full of the next generation of AMC inmates and they spend most of their day trying to manage the little darlings there’s not much time to teach.

looks fabulous, well resourced and good people running it. What’s not to like?

Having said that, why move your kids if they/you are happy were they are? As long as it doesn’t inconvenience you to keep them where they are (transport etc) then I would be loathe to move them to another school. That is more traumatic for some kids, especially mid year.

Kambah also had a bad reputation, but one that was leftover from the 80’s.

Each school is going to have myths and the like, everyone is going to say their school was best.

In reality most schools in Canberra cater to most people however they usually specialise in one or two area’s specifically. That said most primary schools are alike. Depends if you want a big school or small school or if they want to play sport.

I had heard that prior to being re-built it didn’t have that great a reputation. We used to live in Kambah and I chose an out of area school for my kids over Namadgi and Taylor. If I had kids at a school not to far away I was happy with I doubt I would move them. Yes it’s got new facilities………

I saw for many years the Taylor Music Festival and I think it is just marvellous. The school’s community mindedness and commitment to the kids is fantastic. also, it is a newly refurbed school after the asbestos scare so it will be fantastic in that sense too.
