That sucks about the Transit, Waldorf did the same with Toast (without getting into semantics about toast)
Deadman – Shut up, or fisticuffs it will be again 😛
Basement rocks, and I challenge anyone who disagrees to go there and NOT have a good time.
Cant be done, the laws of the universe dictate that.
Considering th elive scene in the ‘berra is all but dries up and withered, basement is a veritable oasis. No one forces anyone to go there.
You may not be soft, UrbanAdventure, but you can’t spell. The word is arse, you ass.
The Transit Bar in Civic is the best venue in Canberra to see original new music of all kinds – usually for free. But of course that’s providing a service, and we can’t have that, so the tossers who own the Waldorf apartments over the road are trying to close the place down. Get down there before the music dies, Producteur de Probleme.
Urban – Grow some balls, I highly doubt you’ve lead such an exciting existence only to come on to RiotACT and cry, fucken keyboard warriors
Joe – Not sure when The Heroines are playing next, check their myspace
Dodgy – I’m wasn’t expecting ladyboys to be excited
The drinks aren’t expensive at The Basement, comparatively, they are cheaper than most night spots
As for the toilets, fair call, but you’s stink a fair bit if you were pissed and shat in for around 5 hours a night, still, go to any nightclub in Civic and you’d find it worse

The Basement is such a dive of a location. The musicv is always turned up so loud that you can barely speak to people, the drinks are expensive, and the toilets…. need a health inspection, they are putrid.
The bands that play there are mediocre at best. Most I have heard are some that yell their heads off. Only one I ever saw that was worth it was Charlie Greaser.Where is your sense of UrbanAdventure???
SOFT!
Ha ha ha ha LOL ho ho ha LMAO. He he ha ha ha ha ho LOL.
So, yeah, when was the last time you stood in front of Chernobyal’s Nuclear reactor for a holiday? Or explorted abandoned missile silos in Denver? Or for that matter spent 11 hours wandering around on your own in the Paris catacombs, drove a London Underground train or survived a plane crash?
Soft my ass.

I don’t really understand why you would go to a see live music and then complain about the music being loud.
+1
I love the basement. A venue that supports local music (that is for over 18’s) is hard to find in canberra lately.

Anyway, I just love the Basement. They’re keeping live music alive in Canberra, and I’ll continue to be a regular there. I’ve seen any amount of awesome local, interstate and international bands there and always had a great time.
I have to disagree with most of what UrbanAdventure.org said about the Basement. Whilst I concur that the toilets are usually in need of a good clean, I have always found that overall, the Basement is a pretty good place to check out some good bands.
Obviously you need to pick what night you go depending on your taste in music, but at least it’s one of the few venues left in Canberra that give original bands a chance to play some shows.
I love my live music, so if the Basement is not to your liking, what venue would you suggest as an alternative to see some good live music? (not cover bands).
I really like Pauly the Water Tiger but the thing I would have gone for was the Heroines. The one time I’ve seen them I was absolutely gobsmacked by how good they were.
Anyone know when and where they are playing next?
