Hello all,
I have an opportunity to buy a block in Moncrieff or Throsby. Do you have any thoughts on which suburb would be a better option?
Situation: Family with small kids,
Thanks

Throsby though has a better location in terms of being closer to major arterial roads. Before you buy, make sure you research the traffic conditions in the north. We lived in Gungahlin for 4 years before deciding to move to Weston due to bad traffic. Yes, roads are being widened, but at the same time more suburbs are being built. Makes me wonder if it’ll really make a difference in the end.
I think Moncrieff is going to have some really good parks etc and it’s closer to more established suburbs and schools. And where else can you live on Bon Scott Crescent!
To counter that, I think Throsby is better placed in terms of getting around Canberra with quicker access to Northbourne and Majura Parkway.
Probably no difference what so ever from that perspective. Don’t believe either will have a government school, Moncreif however will have an Islamic school. Moncreif will feed the school in Taylor which will be just across Horse Park Drive and scheduled to open 2019. Throsby will use Harrison I believe.
All new suburbs have plenty of playgrounds but closer to bushland, not sure what else there is.
Would have thought cost would be the decider with Throsby being a bit more expensive.
