So did anyone else go the shave or the colour for leukaemia research?
I raised $365 shaving my head, and currently looks as rough as guts.
I have seen some public shaves advertised, so everyone get in there and support the cause!

Personally, I need a haircut and I think this is a very good cause to support. So why not? A bit of wackiness can help raise more funds, and makes the day a bit less boring.
Unfortunately to get cash out of people you do need an event for people to rally around. Many charities base their collections around events or dares or difficult/embarrassing tasks. This method obviously works better than just a plain flyer that says ‘give us cash’.
I do agree though that shaving a head is an odd event for people to get into (it felt bloody weird from the chair and to be honest I didn’t enjoy it at all – kind of voyeuristic).
I guess it is done so that the shavees might identify with those undergoing chemo (although hair loss is only a small part of this pretty awful process).
this is idiocy of the highest order.
if you want to donate money – do.
if you want public exhibitionism – do.
why combine the two.
its just so wacky!
fercrissake.

The shave is on at 1500 today – I’m going the number 1 all over. There’s still time to donate if you think I’d make an amusing sight without my hair!
It was fun, although I shouldn’t have invited my Mum along, because she wanted a go and slashed up my scalp a little. There is also something quite nightmarish about having your head shaved in front of all your workmates by your mum, while they all laught at you. I looked down at one stage to check if I still actually had my clothes on.
