Does anybody know where one can buy this great radish-tasting veg in Canberra?
[ED – Wikipedia tells us Kohlrabi is the “German Turnip” and also popular in Kashmir]

yes – Fruit and veg shop in the Woden Plaza – got one there a couple of weeks ago.
enjoy!
Popular in Kashmir… well, if you want to grow it, set aside a corner of your yard, get into a fight with two of your neighbours over who owns that corner and see what happens.
Speaking seriously though, I’m sure I’ve seen it at the Fyshwick markets in one of the smaller grocers in the corner.
Its REALLY yummo raw! Eaten like an apple. No seriously!!! Had it as a kid all the time. If someone grows it I would love to hear from you too.
YUM
Now I’m in the mood for some. Gee thanks Aleximus ;P
My father grew them once when I was a kid. They were not a success at the dinner table and went the same way as the silverbeet, chokos, turnips and celeriac he grew.
Depends on where you are, I suppose. Try the fruit/veg markets (Fyshwick or Belco) or maybe the F&V store in the Woden Plaza.
I have definitely bought and eaten it somewhere in Canberra several years ago (It makes a great soup covered with crouton and grilled cheese!). I think my folks also grew it from seed once.
Yep, Fyshwick Markets should have them.
And it’s funny you ask, because we were in Coles in Manuka the other day when we overheard the staff discussing whether kohlrabi would sell or not! I think they decided not.
You used to be able to buy it at the Fyshwick markets. Not sure if it is still available but worth a try.
