I am organising a staff party for 25 people. I was wondering if anybody out there had any recommendations for great venues in Canberra?
Or Ideas for a cool Christmas party to avoid all awkwardness, something exciting.
Any ideas??

Hi Mate,
Just pitching in a thought to make your party more interesting.
Last year we did a christmas party and we hired those hilarious inflated sumosuits. God , it was great fun, everyone grew a belly wearing them :p with the comments on facebook photos i can tell you that everyone loved that.
I have the mob’s website address http://canberrasumosuits.com.au/.
My 2 cents.
The trick is dont call a venue asking for a Christmas party, as the mere mention of the word will triple your price and reduce your availability.
One idea worth a thought if you cant find any indoor venues, is to simply organise a chrissy BBQ down by the lake or something. Much cheaper, more social and you dont have to book 6 months in advance.
Last year my wife’s employees vote to have their one at the Pancake Parlour, she has mainly teenage staff. The kids loved it the adults did not. The staff were inattentive, almost but not quite rude. They were not interested doing any sort of package for us, it was expensive and sticky.
We had to send out trackers to find someone to get us a drink, and when we were leaving we had to wait so long to pay I tried to get my wife to walk out, but she to much of a goody 2 shoes.

Can’t offer any suggestions, except that the company I work for, finds they have to book in July otherwise they find things just booked out.
Even July is leaving it a bit late. To get our choice of a decent venue we were making our bookings on the day after the previous party.
We’ve still got a few days free in December @ The Australian. Give us a call on 6162 3174.
I was going to suggest the function room at the Carillon. Given I have a possible function that would be suited for that venue as well I just made a call to the NCA to find out what’s what, only to be told the room is no longer available for hire. Bugger.

Although weeknights tend to still be options, funny how the boss won’t give us the day off after a midweek xmas party though 🙂
I’ve organised lunch and then lawn bowls for the afternoon for my staff Christmas party. Should be fun! But it would be too late to organise lawn bowls now I think – it’s like the optiont hat books out the quickest.
