The Roar is carrying a heartfelt plea for an A-League team in Canberra.
Interestingly it seeks to rebut the notion that the GWS AFL tie in has nailed shut the coffin of the A-League bid.

I think people want to support the A League but the big problem is the lack of talent and the fact its only covered by pay TV which means its hard for people to watch the games and develop an interest.

The 20 people who show up are not going to make a viable option for an A League team here. Given that the majority of existing A League teams are broke, a Canberra team which will attract lower attendances may as well be called the Cosmos in preparation for it to fail again.
Sadly, I think this is probably pretty accurate.
