ACT Policing has apprehended a 28-year-old Turner man today (Wednesday, 26 January) during an Australia Day protest along Commonwealth Avenue Bridge, Parkes.
About 11.45am this morning, police were escorting the pre-arranged one lane protest across the bridge when protesters began using all three lanes of the avenue against police direction causing major traffic and safety issues.
The man was arrested and conveyed to the City Watch House and charged with not obey direction of police or authorised person and obstruct drivers and other pedestrians path.
The man will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date.
