In your second para you say “I’m not saying that he asked for it…”, but the first para, which questions the victims “normality” does precisely that. And then you imply that it’s actually his fault because he’s not accountable for his personal safety!

FWIW…In my youth I went through three separate instances of being picked for a bit of a bash and rob by hoods who thought I looked like easy pickings as I wandered home from the pub after closing time. It may well be that this young bloke was in the same boat.

Anyway, whatever level of normality the victim occupies, I’m glad he came out of it without too much damage. A king-hit to the head followed by an uncontrolled fall could just as easily have resulted in a fractured skull and a bunch of shattered teeth spread over the pavement.
