Yesterday afternoon around 5:30 I was heading toward the city and there was a large convoy of white cars heading towards Woden from The Lodge.
The convoy was controlled by police on Harley’s. Does anyone know what this was for?

Harleys as they are sold are normal volume ie it doesn’t hurt your ears. They have to be to pass rego. Then the owners beetle off to the shop and get loud pipes fitted, and presto, instant attitude.

I saw a cop on a Harley a few days ago, and presumed they were setting up for low-speed pursuits of trolley outlaws.
I’m pretty sure a 1989 Lada Niva would be able to outrun one of those things.
The Lada would beat it when the bike broke down… before even the Lada. They are rubbish, and it’s amazing that such an unreliable, low-tech bike is still sold, fashion I guess.
Didn’t know about the low tractor gearing though, I guess HD’s market likes to ride slowly so they can deafen the maximum number of people and appear to be menacing.
I was out the front of my work yesterday (near the city police station) when one of the Harley’s went past, to my suprise they are relativley quiet for a Harley.

Last I heard they were trialling harleys.
I have heard they’re good for ceremonial use because they’re handy for riding really, really slowly.
Actually it is because they ARE really slow. The have incredibly low gears for all that poncy secret service walking pace stuff. They would probably be good for towing a boat.

Despite the national period of mourning for the passing of our national hero, Michael Steep, the Convoy was most likely the Malaysian PM who is in town this week. Probably a reception at the Lodge before he gets the official reception at APH tomorrow.
The PM doesn’t get the full Harley treatment, only visiting Heads of State.
That would be it.
I highly doubt the police would have any involvement in the mully 2.0 funeral

I’ve seen that from time to time too. I always assumed it was the PM coming in. Why we need such US-style idiocy is beyond me.
