The Canberra Raiders have announced that they have reached their 2011 goal of signing up 8000 members.
This is a significant increase over the 2010 total of around 6120 members.
Well done to the club, and good luck for the 2011 season.

The AFL, despite being the inferior code, is run better than the NRL and in terms of promoting club membership, is about 20 years ahead.
Collingwood have as little as 3 game memberships.
Essendon are at 42,000

Thought a club like Collingwood would be above counting one and three game memberships in their total. Seems a bit cheap and Hawthorn like to me.

Roosters sign 9000th Member

When the dole payment arrives next week?
Carlton, who are faring below par in relative terms, are about to sign 33000th member.
Yes, this is even more remarkable because the dear old Canberra Times earlier this year reported that the Raiders only had just over 2000 members. Really, can anybody take seriously anything printed in that pathetic rag?
Great stuff! All of a sudden it feels like the Green Machine is fashionable again, not just in Canberra but also more widely. I think it’s a direct result of the awesome young talent we’ve developed and the exciting brand of football that we play.
