A 35-year-old Narrabundah man has been arrested overnight after allegedly severely beating a 44-year-old woman and tying up her 48-year-old husband.
About 4.30pm yesterday (Wednesday, March 23) the male victim was at home in Narrabundah when the alleged offender has entered, demanding money. A scuffle has ensued with the victim being assaulted and tied up.
His wife returned home shortly after and was badly beaten by the intruder, suffering multiple injuries including a fractured skull and jaw. The woman is being treated in The Canberra Hospital for her injuries.
The 35-year-old man fled the location, taking the victim’s car. Information led police to believe he was heading to an address in NSW. NSW Police were contacted and located the man about 2am in Goulburn where he was arrested.
NSW Police have handed custody of the man over to ACT Policing. He will be charged with aggravated burglary, intentionally inflict grievous bodily harm, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, forcible confinement and take motor vehicle without consent.
