Another guitarist, Nooo! There are so many better things you could do with your time…

I am in that same lazy boat..
I think that it was the overall tone of the album that made me think it was possibly tape.. it had that reel/tape warmness.. the way you guys varied up each track (funk, reggae, rock etc).. made me think of the clash..
I love DAW recording… gives you so much versatility… Once I get back from OS in march.. I will be upgrading my studio, better monitors, better interface (possibly digi/protools), better PC…. but is mostly for my electronic music (all programming).. checkout – izero
I personally have never had a music lesson in my life… asked people a bit of stuff from time to time, read little bits of instructional books.. it worked for me thus far.. but now I want piano/keyboard lessons, just so I can take my limited music theory out of the bass / guitar realm..
ps thumper i listened to the revolver album and was quite impressed, at times i got vibes of the specials and even the clash.. Was it recorded on tape or DAW?
aleshia flanagan and mark johnson do music lessons in garran….guitar piano bass vocals songwriting..or they can put them all in one pack..
cheap rates and alot of experience (they are anu music students and touring artists)
plus they have a home studio….

tell them luke sent ya and they’ll do you a deal:P
Get a teacher. I self taught for a year, but was crap. I started guitar lessons and improved more in my first month of regular lessons than I did in a whole year of jerking around on the guitar by myself. After 3 years of regular lessons, I can play ok (no expert though).
The real key is practice. Thousands and thousands of hours of practice. Don’t worry, it doesn’t take long to get good enough to enjoy your practice time!
Sorry for being such a lazy bastard – here’s a link:
Looks like it’s actually in Woden.
Guitar Hero 2 … costs around $500 for the set-up
A new PS2 is $166, and GH2 is $113 at JB Hi-Fi, so closer to $279 if you already have a TV.
There are beginner’s lessons advertised through CIT’s Adult Education brochure. They’re held in Tuggers, IIRC.
I’ve been teaching myself for about 2 months now and have learnt the basics- chords, barre chords and fingerpicking. but i’m getting sick of doing the same thing and i don’t want to pick up bad habits by learning off the net.
a teacher is the go.
thanks for the number el
I believe Gordon Navara still teaches privately, he’s got decades of experience. Located in Kambah.

Guitar Hero 2 has taught me everything I need to know about playing the guitar. It only costs around $500 for the set-up and you can be rocking out in no time!
go in to better music in phillip… they always have contacts for guitar teachers.
As a (retired) guitar teacher I can vouch for the good things on the net, but in the beggining, (and regularly after), you really need a human next to you, showing you things like hand position, picking technique. Yes it’s posible to do it online, just like it’s possible to learn to skydive online as well.
Get a few one on one lessons first, then dive into the web.
Who is the teacher for ?
Child or adult ?
Age ?
Style ?
Electric or acoustic jazz/blues/rock/death metal/black metal ?
If they ar emature age (~15) there are plenty of resources availabl evia the web.
I started guitar when I was about 14 (1993) and that was before th einternet was invented – I learnt – its just about dedication and repitition – sure you will sound crap to start – I did – but you get better.
Learn to crawl then you can walk – then maybe run –
ACT Library Service was a valuabe resource when I was younger – try that to begin with.
Guitar lessons need not always be taught by a teacher.
David is quite good and my 12yo daughter has done well under his tutelage.
