Gungahlin kidnapping attempt

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an attempted abduction which occurred in an alleyway off Anthony Rolfe Avenue in Gungahlin yesterday (Monday April 4).

About 4:50pm an early-model white Holden Commodore sedan followed a teenage girl on Anthony Rolfe Avenue.

Two men got out of the vehicle and one allegedly attempted to drag the girl into the car.

Members of the public intervened and fought off the alleged abductors, allowing the girl to flee the scene and contact police.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.

The police need to concentrate all their efforts at getting these cowardly pieces of human excrement! All I can say is my hat goes off to the people who went to the aid of this girl you deserve a bravery award.

Just had a call from police media saying they don’t believe there’s a link between this and the downer incident.

Crazed rapists and pedophiles are stalking the streets, looking for females/children to steal!

There’s a very good chance that the girl was known to the men trying to grab her. Some kind of family thing or boyfriend thing… no less serious, in fact probably more serious, but the image of predators prowling the suburbs overlays the real situation, that most violent acts are perpetrated on family and family associates.

I have a beautiful 16 year old daughter, and this crap makes my stomach churn. It’s well out of order.

A very large hats off to the brave folks who pitched in and biffed these monsters. We all owe them a debt of gratitude.

Quick question Al, is the Gungahlin Police Station fully staffed at the moment? And is it only uniform or does it have a CIB component as well? (Just thinking ahead to the investigation of this issue – and hopefully a number plate was taken by one of the great people to went to her aid!)

Can’t say Frots. Been a few months since I last talked with the local boys in blue.

But while I’m proud that my kids walk to school in a good quiet neighbourhood, this crap bothers me immensely.

Thats pretty damn brazen. One would assume that area would very busy around that time. Kudos to people who saved the girl and weren’t just bystanders.
