We are having visitors from interstate soon, and want to take them on a bit of a drive and stop somewhere for lunch along the way.
Does anybody have any suggestions?

There is a place called Grandmas Little Bakery located on 5796 Federal Highway, Currawang NSW
(02) 4848 0240. Perched on a hill overlooking olive groves. http://www.grandmasbakery.com.auI’ve been burned twice by this place and their big signs on the highway declaring that they’re open. On both occasions I have turned off the highway and driven to the bakery to find they are closed.
Flint in the Vines at Murrumbateman is very nice, and ditto for Scope at Mt Stromlo. Neither are “pub” lunches, but offer delicious food.
We stopped in at Grandma’s Little Bakery a few months ago, waited 45 minutes for a milkshake when there were only one other table of 6 there who were finishing up.
Had two different members of staff “follow up” on what happened to our order to no avail.
When we asked for a refund we were not only initially given back less than we had paid but had a staff member inform us that as we had come after closing time, they were doing us a favour to serve us at all.
This was an hour before their advertised closing time.
I would give them a miss entirely.
i second cork street cafe – best pizza in canberra, err sort of… yum-o…

Grazing in Gundaroo is pretty good
Or Poachers Pantry has the most awesome smoked lamb cutlets when I went there for a wedding. Some nights I still wake in a cold sweat thinking about them.
Awesome, what beers do they have on tap?

The Alpine Hotel in Cooma has an awesome bistro.
Is it child friendly?
Yep, its out the back away from the main bar area, it is the old fasioned pub with a hallway down to the back room. Great food & service for a pub.
Lots of good pubs and cafes in Braidwood. We like the pub on the corner near the park but I have forgotten it’s name.
There is also the Braidwood Hotel.
Captains Flat

A little quirky but have never had a bad meal there

That looks like a really nice place! Do you have a price ballpark for 4 adults?

Not really a 2h drive, nor a pub actually, but this place in Gundaroo serves good food and their Pizza is an absolute delight: http://www.corkstreetcafe.com/
