Does anyone know why the ACT Government don’t offer RSPCA number plates?
They should.

Great idea, as long as part of cost of the plate goes to the RSPCA, which is greatly under-funded by the ACT Government for all the work it does.
Maybe they could start putting a few animals down so they don’t need that additional funding…
Because the ACT Government is still living in the 1980s with anything to do with roads. Its systems are ancient it can’t handle these new fangled number plates in anything much other than blue and white. Hell it can’t even send you a rego sticker or permit without a weeks notice.

The good thing is that the additional revenue could be used to increase the funding of public art – something we could both be happy about.
Better still, the number plates could BE public art!
Instead of just putting a boring old Y in front of everything, get rid of the Y and encourage people to paint or draw in the space instead. Maybe some nice bowls of fruit and artistic nudes in miniature on the number plates around us would make the morning trip down the GDE a bit more bearable…

Let’s make it easy for Jon & co:
Peeple want a wider choice of number plates (especially Euro plates that NSW, VIC and Qld have had for ages).
Those same people are willing to pay you EXTRA revenue (see, I even bolded the important bit to make it easy for you) for that choice. What is the problem?
Agree.

Surely the revenue generating capacity of this idea depends on a resident population of sad acts who would want these plates?
Agreed, however there apparently is a market for such things.

The Brumbies plates are much better than the Raiders version. Any car you attach them to will struggle to start, lack forward momentum and the wheels fall off completely after about 35 minutes.
I had heard the Brumbies plates were going to be consigned to busses only, so as to cater for all their passengers. But the lack of a willing driver means the honour has been passed to the Raiders.

Wow – just had a look at the plates you can get in Victoria. From AFL to Zodiac. Probably a good money spinner for the Victorian Government.

QLD plates are quite good too. Create pretty much anything you like – http://www.ppq.com.au/

Apparently the new batch of ACT Brumbies plates look ok at the front, but are all jumbled at the back…
+1 Noticed mine have been very loose at the back lately.
A trivial matter perhaps, but the ACT roads/rego websites are embarassing. We must be the last place in the country without an online licence plate generator. In a town with a colossal amount of public servants, how do we manage to have the most out-dated public services?

damn holden caulfield you beat me to it.
why is it this place can have 2 different football team number plates but can’t get their act together for Euro style number plates? that would be because their unadvertised “survey” shows there is no demand for them.
wankers
Maybe the ACT Government can compile a list of Canberrans who are interested in these like they did with ‘Euro’ style plates, and then do nothing about it.
