P1 has sent in this gem taken from the parking lot next to the ATO building in Civic.
Champagne, Russkis, and a parking ticket. That’s one big night out!

I had this happen once in the car park opposite moose. After what was supposed to be a quiet early night turned into a rather big one and I collected the car in the pm the next day.
I wrote a letter explaining that believing I was over the 0.05 limit and not wanting to remove the car while drunk I elected to get a taxi home and could not retrieve the car the next day until much later blah blah blah.
My ticket was duly waived. Win Win

Parking ticket this week, drink driving charge next week
Probably get off lighter on the drink driving charge, they took their chances and lost this time.

Was this on a Saturday morning?
If the powers that be are serious about reducing drink driving, they should offer free parking in Civic all weekend!
Actually, yes it was Saturday morning (I thought it was Sunday, but a quick check and turns out Saturday). I agree that some system could exist where if you enter one of the gated pay parking places in the city any time after work on Friday you should be able to get your car back out any time on the weekend for free.
Incidental, there were at least two champagne bottles on the floor. There wasn’t room for them on the dash…
And these guys will probably think twice before they leave their car to get a taxi or lift home.
