A 23-year-old Harrison man will be summonsed to court after police caught him travelling at nearly double the speed limit early this morning (Friday, May 20).
About 2.35am a Gungahlin Police Sergeant was conducting laser speed detection on Flemington Road, Franklin when he saw a car travelling at high speed. The car was detected travelling at 138km/h in a 70km/h sign posted zone.
Police intercepted the vehicle and the driver provided a breath test which returned a positive result. The man was taken back to Gungahlin Police Station where breath analysis indicated he had an alleged Alcohol Content (AC) of 0.105.
As the man is restricted to a limit of 0.00 he was issued with an immediate suspension notice.
He will be summonsed to attend the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date, charged with unlicenced driver, exceed speed limit and drive motor vehicle with alcohol in blood/breath.
