ACT Policing took eleven people into custody after a series of disturbances in Civic overnight (Saturday, May 21).
Around 4.30am, police responded to a disturbance outside a nightclub where a group of up to 15 men were fighting. Police intervened and took four men into custody for breach of the peace, failing to move on and intoxicated and disorderly conduct.
A second disturbance occurred around 5.15am, and police took two females into custody for similar offences. During these arrests, police found themselves surrounded by a group of up to 150 persons, all of which were aggressive towards police.
Several officers from across ACT Policing were deployed to assist, and a further five people were taken into custody.
An 18-year-old man was charged with Intimidate Commonwealth Official during the first disturbance, and will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning (Saturday, May 21).
