ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an incident in Theodore overnight in which an ACTION bus was damaged.
Around 11pm yesterday (Friday, May 20), police attended Scantlebury Crescent in Theodore following reports that a group of youths damaged a bus at that location.
The bus driver told police that the group of up to 15 youths boarded the bus at Tuggeranong Bus Interchange, and exited at a stop on Scantlebury Crescent. One of the male youths damaged one of the side windows after exiting the bus.
After a search of the surrounding area, police located four young males who were taken to Tuggeranong Police Station. They are currently assisting police with their enquiries.
Officer in Charge of Tuggeranong Police Station Rod Anderson said this kind of behaviour on buses is unacceptable.
“Not only did these youths damage the bus, they also harassed the driver while on board. This kind of anti-social behaviour threatened the safety and wellbeing of the bus driver and any passengers onboard, and will not be tolerated,” Sergeant Anderson said.
Anyone who may have witnessed the damage to the bus last night, or saw the group of youths either at Tuggeranong Bus Interchange or around the Theodore area, are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
