ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to the ‘glassing’ of a 42-year-old Wanniassa man at the Erindale Vikings Club on Saturday, May 28.
About 12.10am a number of fireworks were let off inside the VP3 lounge with one of the firecrackers landing near the feet of the victim’s partner. A fight inside the lounge broke out shortly after with approximately 10 to 15 males involved.
During the altercation the 42-year-old was struck with a glass bottle to his face, causing serious damage to his right eye. He was later conveyed to The Canberra Hospital by ACT Ambulance Service intensive care paramedics.
Police would like to urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who knows the identity of the offender who threw the glass bottle to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
