A 40-year-old man will face the ACT Magistrate’s Court this morning over an attempted aggravated robbery at the Coles Express Service Station in Braddon early yesterday morning (Tuesday, June 14).
About 6.20am on Monday, police received notification of a hold-up alarm activation at the service station on Mort Street. On viewing the CCTV footage, it depicted the 40-year-old man entering the store about 6.11am and approaching the attendant at the counter.
The man produced a “long neck” beer bottle from under his shirt and threatened the attendant, demanding him to open the till. The man attempted to open the cash register himself when the staff member was unable to. He left the store moments later without any items.
Police located the man a short distance from the service station half an hour later and arrested him for attempted aggravated robbery with an offensive weapon.
