Does anyone know what the current use is for the old cinemas at Woden located on the bus interchange?
Just curious.

Centrelink moved out of there ages ago.
Maybe the sloping floors were too hard to place desks and partitions on… Although their PowerPoint presentations; WOW!!!

Ah, I loved the old Cosmo Twin cinemas! $4 for a ticket was a price that couldn’t be beaten (and obviously couldn’t be sustained either).
The problem at the time, was that Hoyts opened up and started charging $4 for movies too, with many more cinemas and a more modern atmosphere. Eventually the business dried up for Cosmo, they closed down and Hoyts jacked the prices up over 10 bucks since there was no competition.

Fernwood is about to move in there.
Given recent observations I would hope that they have no security issues. Just sayin’.
Fernwood? I thought that would be the last place they’d want to go. Gym-toned young women in lycras having to run the gauntlet of bogans and young schoolkids wall to wall at the Interchange smoking and perving. Doesn’t really fit in with their slogan “No Toms, no Harrys and definitely no dicks”.
I see a good marketing opportunity for Southern Cross Health Club and Anytime Fitness to pick up any women who fear for their safety going to the new Fernwood.

good times in that interchange during the 90’s.
I especially loved the Games Arcade…especially the four linked Sega Rally games and that other racing game (Virtua Racer?)…
Ah, good old Metro. Happy times 🙂

Conversely, the last film I saw there was Reckless Kelly.

Centrelink no longer has the big office in Woden, they’ve moved to Tuggeranong and Symo.
I believe they have been converted into a car park for Centrelink employees
I’m sure there is a joke in this somewhere.

On topic – sorry, I have absolutely no idea what has become of the downstairs cinema rooms since their closure.
Centrelink office. Not sure what happened to the cinemas themselves, have only been into the ground floor which is a tight fitout of desks and small meeting rooms etc.
