The Raiders are putting a brave face on a massive thumping in Bruce at the hands of Souths.
Not such a bad day to sit outside and drink beer though.
UPDATE: Foxsports are celebrating the resurgence of Souths.

Secondly, every team, including Souths, has its share of fair weather fans. But only 12,000 on a beautiful Sunday afternoon? Take the Souths fans away and that was a very a poor crowd. I can remember attending standing room only games at Seiffert Oval in the pouring rain. I’ve been part of crowds at Bruce prior to the redevelopment that would exceed the ground’s current capacity. Where are all the stalwart Raiders fans now they aren’t performing very well?
I couldn’t agree more mate, the Raiders have about 6,000 rusted-on fans who go to every game, rain hail or shine. The rest are just fairweather hangers-on who piss off when the team isn’t winning.
FWIW I agree with your assessment of how crowd numbers have dropped. Part of the issue is that half of the Canberrans who now support Souths or the Tigers or whoever are former Raiders fans. I work with a tonne of them.
Where do you get that from? IMHO, the average Souths fan is a mentally handicapped retard of one description or another. Have a look at the faces in the crowd for proof…
That’s not a souths thing. Look at the crowd at any mungoball game.
As a Souths fan resident in Canberra for the best part of 30 years, a couple of observations.
Firstly, the Raiders shouldn’t be overly ashamed of their performance. Given the team they put on the field, they did well to score three tries and only concede eight. That kick for the first Raiders try may have been blind luck, but I’d like to think it was just very well weighted and you guys got a bum call on the scrum feed that led to our third try.

Yep, it wasn’t pretty.
Getting smashed by a bunch of numpties is bad enough, but what added insult to injury was having to listen to all their Golf-driving, iPad toting, “been following league for five minutes” fans celebrating.

I’m no league fan, but the handful of Rabbits fans I do know are all long termers who have suffered way more in the last 20+ years than the Raiders could imagine. None drive a Golf, although one does have an Audi; might make you feel better, I guess.
Well they beat the Eels by even more points the previous weekend. And a month and a half ago Raiders beat the Eels by a bit.
So I guess that all makes sense.
Mmm, sour grapes?????
My wife is Rabbitohs through & through & every time we go to see them play there is always a pretty good spread of supporters.
Judging by the reaction yesterday when both teams ran on I would have nearly sworn there were more Rabbitohs supporters there than Raiders supporters……….

Never mind – when the Rabbitohs stop winning, their fans will disappear back into their burrow.
