I think you’ll find the ‘weird one on the left’ is for traffic coming up from Lady Denman drive, giving them the ability to continue north without having to cross paths with traffic exiting onto William Hovell in a very short space.

easy to understand where to go, not so easy to understand why design is the way it – eg there are now three possible lanes to choose from if travelling from southside onto the GDE (2 on right, then another weird one on left later on), but only one lane from southside to the City, even though this gets just as much if not more traffic, and this will only increase with development in Molonglo etc. Worse still, the single citybound lane goes through a tiny tunnel (under GDE) that’s only wide enough for one vehicle, so that there’s no option to tack an extra lane on in future (it’s called futureproofing, RoadsACT folks; not a difficult concept to understand). Someone asked Tony Gill about this at a community meeting a few days ago. His response — ‘oh, I guess we’ll just have to rebuild Glenloch Interchange again in coming years once more traffic eventuates’. You could make this stuff up!! I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry

The Developers are all to blame.

The Planners did not advise them of what to write/sumbit because they are naive little Munchkins who have received no fraud awareness, ethics, and ACT Government Values training. (OK, I give into embellishing that one. ACT Government has no values.)

No undisclosed private building works, shady personal/family/business relationships here on both sides.

Let me guess … developers. I suspect this sort of behaviour is more common than most think, and could explain some of the inconsistent planning decisions and crazy-assed buildings and extensions around the place. Good to see the police acting on this.
