ACT Policing is appealing for witnesses to an aggravated robbery on a taxi driver last night in Chifley (Sunday, November 13).
About 9.35pm, the taxi driver picked up two passengers, a man and a woman, from the Corinna Street taxi rank in Woden and was asked to take them to Chifley Shops.
On arrival at the shops, the man produced a knife and demanded money from the driver. The driver grabbed the man’s hand that held the knife but was then assaulted by the woman, who also demanded money.
The taxi driver fled the car shortly after and contacted police. A small sum of cash was taken along with the car keys.
The male offender is described as Caucasian in appearance, about 5’5” (165 cm) tall, between 18 and 22 years of age and with a medium build. He has short brown hair, was clean shaven and wearing a black hooded jumper and jeans.
The woman is described as Caucasian in appearance, between 5’2″ – 5’4″ (158cm to 163 cm) tall, approximately 22 years of age with a medium build and shoulder-length brown hair.
Anyone who may be able to assist police with the investigation is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
