A 28-year-old Harrison man will be summonsed to court for drink driving after police pulled him over yesterday evening (Tuesday, December 20) driving a truck with five passengers on board.
About 6pm, members from Belconnen Police Station were on mobile patrol on Ginninderra Drive near Florey. They observed a white Mitsubishi rigid table truck turn right onto Copland Drive in Melba against the red light in a manner that nearly caused the truck to roll over. The truck lost control momentarily on Copland Drive, leaving the road and travelling onto the gravel shoulder, before returning to the road surface.
Police conducted a traffic stop and spoke with the driver. He was subjected to a roadside screening test which returned a positive result. The 28-year-old was taken back to Belconnen Police Station where he underwent a breath analysis which returned a result of 0.157.
At the time there were five passengers inside the truck and police ascertained they had driven from the back of Tharwa to Belconnen.
The driver is subject to a 0.05 limit. He was issued with an Immediate Suspension Notice and will be summonsed to attend court at a later date.
