ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to a pursuit in North Canberra last night (Friday, December 30).
Around 7.40pm, a Gungahlin patrol spotted a white Holden utility on Ellenborough Street in Kaleen with no front registration plate. When the male driver of the Holden utility saw the police vehicle, he accelerated away, and a pursuit commenced.
The pursuit continued along the Barton Highway and Federal Highway, and stopped when police lost sight of the vehicle near the off ramp to Horse Park Drive. The pursuit lasted a total of four minutes, and reached a maximum speed of 145km/h.
Police are continuing to make enquiries into the identity of the driver. The white Holden utility had a Victorian registration plate, multi-coloured rear panels and a bundle of clothing in the rear tray.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen the white Holden utility or witnessed the pursuit last night to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website at www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information to Crime Stoppers can be provided anonymously.
