I was wondering what peoples expierences with Headspace ACT, the youth mental health service are?
I have been provided with the great task of helping my younger sister (16) get some support.
Any ideas? Or opinions of the service mentioned above?

Headspace is a very good national service, government-funded but very closely allied with various major health bodies and mental health bodies. It’s a great place to start.
Some GPs have mental health training but most do not. If you can find a GP with this training, great. Headspace will have a list, so your sister can go and get a MH treatment plan started (this gets her free/cheap visits to a MH practitioner).
I sent my teen there just before my mother passed away to help her with the grief process. They were fantastic and my daughter was happy to go there and talk to them about the loss of her grandmother.
They are good 🙂
But you could also see your GP and he/she can refer to a Medicare psychologist. You get 6 sessions paid for by Medicare and then you can get more IF the psychologist requests it form your GP. There are psychologists on the list who do work with teens.
Headspace, generally speaking, does good things but in the absence of more info about the type of support you are seeking it is difficult to give a clear answer.
If you have a good GP, these are often a very good starting point and will know which services are best to refer to.
