Hint: Christmas
Did ‘shove an exhaust-pipe up your arse’ sound enticing, BigDave? It’s X-mas….
Yeah. Xmas is for poofs. I’m going to get pissed and do burnouts outside Deadmandrinking’s house because he doesn’t mind.
The longest day – its got to be today. Every other b@$t@rd in the building has f**ked off for the year
PS In saying that, you have to have a keen eye, and you have to know what you are looking for, and you have to know when to put things back.
Now, back to the topic of this discussion.
CHRISTMAS!!!!!
ref comment by aa – believe me, the 4 km round trip to the Mitchell recycling depot is not much petrol. On my days off from work, I sometimes go a couple of times a day. Days of work is exactly that, days off for relaxation, so I don’t lose money. Better buying vintage goodies than spending 600 bucks on some electronic gizmo that’ll be outdated within 6 months.
Have a safe festive season and have a ball whatever you do!
If you think that’s cool – check out my 2005 range – although since they come from Spain, it’s probably too late for a stocking filler for this year.
Im all into the going to the recycling depot. But if you’re going to go there a few times, it’s probably cost you a lot more than you think. Have you put into account the time and expences? ie petrol, time from work, etc etc…
Hehe thats a cool present. I got my brother some ‘manure’and my sister some ‘drinking water’.
Oxfam has a great range of goats for that special person 🙂
That was last years novelty present from me anyway, so your all welcome to use it yourselves.
Onya, Alexm. Completely agree. We have a ban on all pressies except for the kids, and I spend the year looking for a variety of $5 items to stuff into a pillowcase for each of them. Needless to say, these are the things they play with while the expensive ones are thrust rudely aside each year.
My birthday this week, too, but I bought myself all the pressies I wanted so nice sprog-less lunch with the spouse, that’ll do me. Go and see the Christmas lights on the weekend. Kick back with what’s left of my election night champers.
Hope for rain on Christmas Day!
Getting out of Canberra this arvo – heading back to Mildura. On the day hanging with fam, eating until I barf/explode.
I decided to go the chairty gifts option this year coz most of my family have everything they need. And it antagonises my brother. HA
I’m sure some people will be calling on the true meaning of Christmas after they receive their credit card bills in the New Year.
I’ve made a new rule. No new presents. Waste of money.
Went down to the local recycling depot and picked up some bargains, and it’s good stuff too. Lovely painted ceramic pot for Mum, gorgeous vintage frame still in box for daughter (gotta be vintage!), boombox for 7 year old boy (works like a dream), and 60s dresser for wife. I’ve re-painted it in her colours and it’s come up beaut. Total cost for all gifts plus paint, $84.
My credit card is still intact, for now at least.
If you are still looking for gifts, give the recycling deposts a go!
Merry Christmas and stay safe.
PS To find these bargains, you need to look hard, you need to rummage deep, and you need to get your hands dirty. And you need to stay for a long time to wait for the loads to come in. I’ve been on holidays and went to the local depot every day for a week. It was great fun.
Sleeping in, Brekkie with mummy, Lunch with the boyfriends parents… but nothing too big, my birthday is on NYE, so im saving myself.. :D:D
Well, luckily much of the worship of consumerism has been completed at my end. So therefore it will probably be spent snuggling in the arms of a special someone. Possibly watching schlocky horror movies…
