A few of you have sent in this picture of the corner of Manuka Circle and Canberra Avenue, but we’ve gone with Pork Hunt.
It does seem a little… unusual.

There are a few places where they have a no stopping sign either on the lights or nearby.
I know why they have the sign there, but technically if you stop you’re breaking one law, and if you don’t stop you break another law.
You break one road rule and obey another every time you go through a green traffic light.
You should be stopping before entereing the intersection for the solid white line, but you don’t, you continue through because the light is green.
I defer to davo101 who has done the leg-work by looking up the regs.
To quote the road rules:
165 Stopping in an emergency etc or to comply with another rule
It is a defence to the prosecution of a driver for an offence against a provision of this Part if:
(e) the driver stops at a particular place, or in a particular way, to comply with another provision of the Australian Road Rules or a provision of another law, and the driver stops for no longer than is necessary to comply with the other provision.
