Tuggeranong people not allowed a good feed?

What are you one about Duke? The food at at Gugahlin is fantastic. Plenty of good Seafood, Thai, Indian and Chinese restaurants. There are also plenty of good Cafes. I haven’t tried the Turkish place yet. Gungahlin lacks a good Italian restaurant though; I usually just drive to Belconnen as its not that far away. I can’t complain about anything else.

My faves are Ginger and Spice and Jasmine House in Gungahlin. For Indian, Kitchen of India in the Platypus centre is great.

If you’re trying to impress your lady in Gungahlin and have a hard time dealing with your options, learn to cook & washup, and then impress the pants off her?

Travel times from Kambah to nearby suburbs like Forrest, Griffith and Kingston are nowhere near half an hour. Kambah to Kingston is around 14-16 minutes. Obviously it’s quicker if you’re travelling outside of peak hour. Places like Lyneham and Dickson take a bit longer because of the need to negotiate the mess at Glennloch interchange. For the city it’s parking that probably adds the most time not the travel between home and destination, but then again it’s not like there’s much to go to Civic for – with the possible exception of the ice crab at Kingsley’s Steak & Crab.

Is that a cloud of smug I see building?

Yeah but I get to stay out for that extra “hour” (both ways) that you wasted in your automobile smogging up the planet and enjoy a couple more drinks and company with my friends and lovers. Then go home to some walls with a ceiling on top, sleep, then go out the next day and enjoy myself some more.

The better class of people have one acre blocks in Forrest. Enough room to give the hounds a jolly good run after the riff-raff who come calling. Probably come from one of those aweful housing commission cottages in Queanbeyan.

It is sometimes such a bore to get the Cayenne to travel to the restaurants in Maaa-nieu-kar, that I take the Maybach instead.

Meh, Proud Local…in under half an hour I can be eating in the same places that you do thanks to the miracle that is the car, but I get to go home to a decently sized house with a nice view too 🙂

There are restaurants in Tuggeranong? If you people want to live down in the sticks with big houses and lovely mountains around you then you have to forfeit some of the finer things in life I’m afraid.

Give me a smaller inner city wall to wall townhouse any day of the week. Hell I am never there anyway cause I’m too busy walking to and from town sampling all the great restaurants.

OK Belconnen people, don’t let him know we have all the good food here like the Italian Kitchen, Vietnam Village Inn, RockSalt, Phenom Penh, Ruchi, Taj Agra, the Pide House, and a million Chinese restaurants.

Lakeview at Tuggeranong is pretty bloody good as far as Chinese goes.

Little Istanbul on the main drag at Tuggers is awesome turkish

North side does seem spoilt for choice restaurant and take-away wise with some good home delivery but is there a turkish home delivery. I live quite close to a great turkish take-away but have never enquired about home delivery…

tuggers in my experience seems to have a decent range of take-aways (although spread a little thin in some spots) but many of them close early and it seems to lack any really high class restaurants (let me know what and where they are if I’m wrong on that point)

Belconnen is fantastic for food. There is an awesome little Chinese shop in the Boardwalk along the lake. Owned by the same people that own the one at Kippax I believe.

I think we are spoilt for choice in gunghalin..

We have all versions of Asian (Thai, Korean, Chinese), we have an Indian restaurant, a good Turkish restaurant (not ali baba) and a few clubs if you like club grub. If you’re not happy with that then I would lean toward you being hight maintenance

PS Where else in Canberra can you get drunk at a golf club then head out the door at 3am guaranteed to get something greasy from the g spot ?

The Erindale Turkish and Thai places are good. I like Ramas, but have T/Ad from there.

Ramas in Pearce has been closed over Xmas but reopens this coming week!

The Italian Grill in Erindale is also good for takeaway – just phone your order through beforehand.

I’d concur regarding the Turkish Grill’s banquet for 2 people being great value, it feeds our family for a weekend. However a gotcha we discovered is that the banquet for 3 and 4 is exactly the same size except for an extra zucchini ball or two. So if you’re feeding more than 2 you are much better off ordering a banquet for 2 twice.

Thank your lucky stars you don’t live in Gunghalin, Junkett. I regularly visit a close friend out there and trying to find a decent restaurant or even takeaway is near impossible.

The Turkish Grill at Erindale in fantastic… a banquet for 2 will easily feed 2 people for 3 whole meals… and delicious too.

You just have to look around for the good places to eat. Dont expect them all to come putting plamphets in your mailbox.

There is a Turkish Restaurant in Erindale and one in the restaurant strip in the town centre.
