A 36-year-old Yarralumla man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Monday, February 20) for the Petbarn robbery on Monday, February 6.
About 9am on Monday, February 6, a man entered the Petbarn store at the Belconnen Markets and requested to use the store’s phone, telling staff he was having difficulties with his car.
After using the store phone he informed a staff member that he was carrying a gun and demanded they give him cash. The staff member gave him a sum of cash and he left the store.
ACT Policing received information from members of the public following a media release seeking assistance in identifying the man. A search warrant was executed at a residence in Belconnen yesterday (Sunday, February 19), where police located the man hiding in a cupboard.
At the conclusion of the search warrant the man was arrested and taken to the ACT Watch House. He has been charged with robbery and trespass.
