Hi Rioters,
I’m having great difficulty finding German mustard – Edelweiss used to have a great one, but alas, no more.
A kransky just doesn’t taste ‘right’ with other mustard’s and I have a hankering for kransky!

I miss German mustard, it used to be as easy to get as french, english etc but it seems to have receded. Nice vinegery stuff.
Err, Senf is just German for mustard, so yes, you were just eating Senf…
I’ve seen Senf at superbarn in civic and hansel and gretel in Philip. Not sure if that’s what you mean, but that’s all I ate in Germany 🙂
I just picked up Thomy’s Suesser Senf from Belco markets. Had it with my Vienna frankfurts. Yum.
You have caused in me a craving for ein Rostbratwurst, mit mittelscharfer Senf, mit Semmel. I wonder … where is the wurst shop in town?
Deli’s at Fyshwick, but Woolies should have at least Thomy as they stock their mayo.
Fyshwyck food markets have all sorts of German mustards, in particular, the sweet one which you eat with Weisswurst. In fact, at the food markets you find all sorts of German food such as processed meat (Weisswurst, Nuernberger, Leberkaes, etc.), many beers, Knoedel, Sauerkraut, Gurken, and so forth.
(German) Thomy mustard can be purchased at numerous supermarkets in Canberra.
Standard Maille Dijon mustard varies a bit in its sharpness, but the milder jars taste a lot like German mustard IMO.
It’s not much help now obviously, but keep an eye on Aldi around September as their “Oktoberfest” specials usually include some German mustards including Bavarian Suesser Senf.
The delis at Belconnen market have a good range of mustards, some French and some German. But I always pack a couple of tubes of Lowensenf when returning from visiting family in Germany. A quick look on google shows there are a few online delis in Australia who stock it. Worth the effort!
