ACT Policing has arrested the drivers of two vehicles involved in separate pursuits yesterday (Friday June, 1).
In the first pursuit about 2.30pm yesterday, police attempted to stop a silver Holden Commodore station wagon on Drakeford Drive, Wanniassa. The car failed to stop and a pursuit ensued before being terminated after approximately 35 seconds.
Police were able to identify the alleged offender and had seen a vehicle of the same description at his residence earlier that day.
The 33-year-old Calwell man was arrested at Tuggeranong Police Station last night and will face the ACT Magistrates Court today charged with traffic offences, including furious/reckless driving, driving whilst disqualified, using an unregistered vehicle and failing to stop for police.
In a separate incident around 8pm yesterday, police attempted to stop a white Toyota Hilux on Boolimba Crescent in Narrabundah. The driver failed to stop and a pursuit ensued for about 20 seconds before the driver stopped on Sturt Avenue and fled on foot.
The 33-year-old Narrabundah man was apprehended after a foot pursuit and conveyed to the ACT Watch House where he was charged with traffic offences, including failing to stop for police, being an unlicensed driver and driving an unregistered and uninsured motor vehicle.
The man will face the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date.
