Contrails over Gungahlin. Images of Canberra

Well, the artist in me (and that’s not much) says what a great photo – I spotted these the other day and thought it would make a great image but alas, no camera on me. I’m pleased someone else caught it. I recall some years ago now on this site was a similar photo with many many more circles. Must have just been one of those days

Yep, we hung a left about 10 minutes in (over Goulbourn). Second flight in too, completely stuffed our day.

We were heading to Port Maquarie for a 10am appointment. First flight was a crop duster & it was cancelled, second flight (the one we were on that was late) landed 15 minutes after boarding. We were transferred to a later flight at 12. At 10 this was cancelled as well with no reason given. We ended up going to Coffs & driving south. Landed at the motel at 4 in the afternoon.

Complete crap customer service. If they were not one of only two air carriers in OZ, Qantas would not be getting my money again based on that effort.

It seems just north west of Canberra is a prime holding pattern area for both Domestic and International flights. On a clear morning around 745am, I regularly see an A380, en route to Sydney from the NW, turns NE over Canberra after coming in from the run from SE Asia.

Canberra is constantly being ‘buzzed’ by planes, travelling at over 900kmh.

Well I’m disappointed, this thread has been up for nearly 3 hours, and no sign of the “chemtrails” crowd.

Well we are under the 4th busiest air route in the world (SYD-MEL), and it’s very common that planes need to hold on that route.

A friend of mine who used to work as an air traffic controller on the SYD-MEL route mentioned that his personal best was 47 planes in a holding pattern at the same time.
