ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an aggravated robbery which occurred yesterday evening (Monday, July 23) in Acton.
Around 5.40pm a 26-year-old man was jogging along the bicycle path that runs along-side Lake Burley Griffin, parallel to Lawson Crescent in Acton, when he was confronted by a man. The man pushed the victim against the wall of the underpass and held an object, believed to be a knife, against the victim’s neck.
The offender demanded the victim hand over his wallet and phone. The victim handed the offender a sum of cash and an identification card. The offender then became agitated and struck the victim a number of times in the head. The victim retaliated and the offender ran from the area towards the National Museum.
The male offender is described as being Caucasian in appearance, around 180cm tall and aged between 40 and 60 years. He has long dirty grey shoulder length curly hair with sunken eyes and face. He was wearing black tracksuit pants and a grey zip up fleece top.
Acting Superintendent Jeff Knight said that any information from potential witnesses is always important in cases such as this.
“Information from the public can often assist in an investigation such as this. If you have any information, we would urge you to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via the website at www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.” Acting Superintendent Knight said.
