Did you see the kamikaze Pulsar on the Monaro?

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to a collision on the Monaro Highway yesterday afternoon (Monday, July 23).

Around 2.35pm the driver of a silver Nissan Pulser entered the north bound lanes of the Monaro Highway, crossed the median strip and the three south bound lanes. The car collided with a concrete shoulder barrier before coming to rest against the bushes in the median strip.

A 55-year-old man, who was the only occupant of the car, was taken to Canberra Hospital with serious injuries.

No other vehicles were involved in the collision.

Police would like to speak to any witnesses who saw the car prior to the collision or witnessed the collision itself.

Yes I drove past it just after it occurred yesterday, I could not figure out how the car ended up facing towards the Fyshwick bridges on in the bushes from the southbound lanes. I surmised that they must have come down the wrong way from the Hindmarsh rd bridge ramp and then come up the southbound lanes before realising he was going north on the southbound lanes when he saw the traffic coming at him and then pulled off into the medium strip hitting all the bushes before coming to a stop.

I would have stopped but there were already lots of people assisting so no point adding to the mess of cars and the semi that was stopped in the middle lane with its hazard lights on.

Sounds like a sad story and lucky that nobody else was hurt.
