TMJ Chiropractor in Canberra?

I have recently been diagnosed with TMJ and I’ve been told that a chiropractor might be able to help.

Does anyone have a good (or bad) experience to report, and has anyone had success in treating TMJ with chiropractic?

Interesting that you went to Dr Da Cruz. I was booked in to see him with the view to getting a splint to assist with teeth grinding and jaw cleching. I ended up cancelling the appt due to work travel and have never got around to re-scheduling. The cost was also much higher than at my previous dentist, (Dr Archibald, who is great), to get a splint made up.

Anyway, how did you find the whole experience with him? Is it any different to an ordinary dentist, (taking into account the fact that he focuses on these things and not just run of the mill teeth cleaning)?

Actually I heard reiki is even better. Have you tried reiki?

Just in case someone with the same problem comes across this thread and is looking for help with this type of thing, the 3 things that were of greatest benefit to me (and I am much, much better now) were:
Cranio sacral osteopathy (Maxwell Fraval’s clinic)
Physiotherapy
A SOMA mouthguard from Dr Da Cruz at Wholistic Dentistry in Queanbeyan.

I was skeptical about trying all these things, but having tried them, would recommend to anyone.

A simple massage will give you all the benefits of chiropractic with none of the risks.

The chief reason people use chiropractors is that they are very very cheap.
They are very very cheap because they have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. And they will sometimes rupture your neck artery giving you a stroke.
Keep them well away from your neck. And your back, for that matter.

Yes, make sure you’re aware of the very real danger of stroke and permanent neck/brain damage if you let a chiropractor practice their nonsense on you.

+1 for Capital Clinic Physiotherapy.

Can also recommend Steve Webb, an osteopath in North Lyneham. Last I checked there was a 5-6 week wait to get into see him though.

Newton Small at Kambah Chiropractic is also very good.

Using Google is not the problem it’s the implied dumbness if you don’t know what the acronym means that is offensive.

If you meant OP, which is an acronym, I have no idea what you mean at all.

Let me explain slowly,to use an acronym such as TMJ without explanation as in the OP(original post) assumes everybody knows what it means and if you don’t your dumb.

Your original statement was far from clear as to which comment you were referring to. Hence my total misinterpretation. And it’s ‘you’re dumb’, for future reference.

I don’t think that using an acronym without explanation always implies that others who don’t know it are dumb. Particularly when we’re referring to a painful complaint with a hideously long name. Very different from, say, public service acronyms, or computer acronyms, which are often used without any shame!

Anyway, let’s stop this he said/she said and hope the OP (original poster in this context) gets something useful back from someone.
