Three teenagers have been arrested following a pursuit across Tuggeranong early this morning (September 11).
Around 1.25am, officers from Tuggeranong General Duties were called to a burglary at the Gowrie Discount Pharmacy, Gowrie Shops. A short time later, police received a telephone call from a member of the public about a burglary at the Banks Shops on Pockett Avenue.
The member of the public reported seeing three people leave the shop, carrying a cash register and getting into a white vehicle. Police conducted an extensive search around the area and were unable to locate the white vehicle.
Around 2.30am, officers were conducting a proactive patrol around the Erindale Shops when they saw a white Subaru Impreza exit the car park at high speed. Police attempted to stop the vehicle, but the vehicle accelerated away and a pursuit commenced.
The pursuit lasted 18 minutes reaching a top speed of 120 km/h and travelled through the suburbs of Wanniassa, Monash, Gowrie, Chisholm, Theodore and Gordon. As is standard ACT Policing practice, Police Operations continually monitored the pursuit, and at no time was there any danger to members of the public or other road users.
The white Subaru finally came to a complete stop on Woodcock Drive, Gordon. The three occupants inside the vehicle were arrested and taken into custody. Enquiries made by police indicate that the vehicle was stolen from a house in Kambah last Saturday (September 8).
The three teenagers, aged 17, 16 and 15, were taken to the ACT Watch House and were charged with driving and riding in a stolen motor vehicle.
The three teenagers received bail from the ACT Watch House, and are expected to face the ACT Children’s Court at a later date
