A motorcyclist has been rushed to hospital after a crash on the Barton Highway.
An ACT ESA spokesperson said the crash, involving the motorcyclist and a bus, happened at around 8:30 am on Tuesday morning (11 March).
The incident occurred on the Barton Highway at the intersection of Gold Creek Road.
The ACT Ambulance Service, ACT Fire & Rescue and ACT Policing were called to the scene, the spokesperson said, with paramedics taking the motorcyclist to hospital in a critical condition.
An ACT Policing spokesperson said there were ongoing road closures after the crash.
The Barton Highway’s southbound lanes are closed between the intersections of Clarrie Hermes Drive and Gundaroo Drive.
Also, the intersections of Curran Drive and Gold Creek Road are closed.
“[Those areas are] expected to be closed for the next few hours or so,” the spokesperson said.
Police remain on the scene, including members of ACT Policing’s Major Collision Team.
In the aftermath of the crash, people are being asked to avoid the area and take an alternate route.
“If they’re trying to head southbound, or trying to head towards Canberra and taking the Barton Highway, people either have to go through Gungahlin or through Belconnen at the moment,” the spokesperson said.
